Galen and the Origins of Experimental Neurosurgery

Galen was the most influential medical writer of all time. Although a dogmatic authoritarian, he was a careful, accurate observer and original thinker. This paper details Galen’s life and contribution to medicine with particular reference to, what I believe, are the origins of experimental neurosurgery.
